to those of dogs referred to in any of clauses (a) to (d); (“pit-bull”)
b),c) and d) are recognized Pure Breed Dogs,a) and e) are not.

Be Proactive
Ask your Municipality(in writing!) if your dog is an Ontario Gov`t 'pit bull' and get the answer in writing(!) on their letterhead
Give them a reasonable am`t of time to respond(30 days) before you have your Lawyer request a response from them.
You might mention to them that your Lawyer will follow up if they decide to just ignore your request.
It means 1 of 2 things.
Either they have no clue which dogs are subject to the Provincial Legislation
or they don`t have the legal authority to designate them as Gov`t 'pit bulls'.
It also says NO COMPLIANCE because if they don`t know,how are you supposed to know?
Only the Owners of the 3 named recognized Breeds know that they own a Gov`t 'pit bull'.
They are the only dog owners in Ontario who should be complying with restrictions.
No one else should be complying unless they have a letter from someone with Authority stating that their dog is subject to the Legislation.

I requested a written designation from my Municipality on my dog after reading about Munchie`s story-see below
My dog is a mix breed dog,not a cross of known Pure Bred Parents

If they are unable/unwilling to state in writing that THIS dog is NOT a Gov`t "pit bull",
then be very,very afraid Ontario Dog Owners!

after a Court took the opinion of an unqualified Shelter Worker
(who identified it as an Ont. Gov`t 'pit bull' on behalf of the Ont. Gov`t)
over a CKC Judge who identified it as "a mongrel that most resembles a field Labrador"
It was alleged to have bitten,but being tagged a 'pit bull' sentenced it to death.
Everyone in Ontario should be requesting an official letter.
There are only 2 types of dogs in Ontario now.
'pit bulls' or non 'pit bulls'
Make the Gov`t decide
A dog that looks like a 'Pit Bull' Breed may not be a 'pit bull' or pit mix
and
a dog that doesn`t look like a 'pit bull'(such as my dog) may actually be a 'pit bull' mix.
That`s the craziness of the Ontario law.
Ontario Dog Owners have a right to know,before they end up in front of a Judge
